AmCham Policy Forum: Update on the Political Landscape in Denmark

Event Description

AmCham’s Policy Forum is pleased to invite policy stakeholders to a briefing on the political landscape in Denmark on the back of a tumultuous first year for the government.

To take us through the briefing, we have partnered up with political commentator Noa Redington, who will provide us with a unique insight into the political landscape anno 2024 and what it means for businesses in Denmark – foreign and local.

In December 2022, Mette Frederiksen, Lars Løkke Rasmussen, and Jakob Ellemann-Jensen set out to establish a rare across-the-middle, majority government in order to make the “unpopular but ultimately right decisions”. A year later, the polls show the majority diminishing, Frederiksen has flirted with new job opportunities, and Ellemann-Jensen has passed the Venstre-reigns to Troels Lund-Poulsen. However, the government has also managed to land an historically broad National Budget, a big tax reform, as well as an ambitious 2030 spending plan.

In many ways, the past year in Danish politics has been unprecedented, and with a record number of parties in parliament, uncertainty within the government, and upcoming EU elections, the coming year in politics doesn’t show signs of slowing down. We will help you navigate it!

About Noa Redington:

Noa is a political commentator on TV2 News and a columnist in Politiken. Previously, Noa served as special advisor to former Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt, and he has also been an editor of Weekendavisen and Ugebrevet Mandag Morgen.
